Enter the Root
Live Performance & Studio Film
Enter the Root is a completed performance film project created in collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Trees With Roots (Akadi Sankofa) and BMT Culture Hub. Blending music, theatre, and ceremony, the project marked the launch of Akadi’s powerful EP trilogy — Never Alone, Funky Fungi, and Let It Flow — collectively titled Enter the Root.
The performance was designed as an immersive, transformative experience that drew audiences into a space of reflection, ancestral connection, and shared energy. Through ritual, sound, and movement, the event unfolded as both a live concert and a spiritual journey, culminating in a high-energy crescendo that celebrated creativity, community, and healing.

The visual narrative balances grounded intimacy with dynamic performance energy — evoking the ceremonial and ritualistic essence of the music itself.
Through expert use of lighting, composition, and live sound, the finished films deliver an authentic representation of the performance while offering flexible, professional media assets for promotion, festivals, and future projects.
Filming & Production
Lavanda Films was commissioned to film and edit both the studio rehearsal and the live performance. Filming was carried out using a multi-camera 4K setup, capturing the full emotional and visual depth of the experience.
Deliverables included:
Longform horizontal video, documenting the live performance in cinematic detail for festival submissions, artist archives, and cultural partners.
Social-first videos created from rehearsal footage, produced and released ahead of the event to promote the live performance and build audience anticipation.
This dual-format workflow combined documentary filmmaking with digital-first content strategy, enabling the artist to engage audiences both in person and online.
