Freelance Videographer, Filmmaker & Content Creator in London, UK

Hi, my name is Connor Newson, and I’m a freelance videographer, filmmaker, video editor, and licensed drone pilot based in London, UK. I’m the founder and director of Lavanda Films, a creative media production company specialising in cinematic documentary filmmaking, event videography, and social-first video content that helps artists, communities, and organisations share their stories with authenticity and visual power.

At Lavanda Films, my focus is on creating visually rich, story-led films — from documentary shorts and live performances to community campaigns, environmental films, and social media video production. My approach combines technical precision with narrative depth, producing video content that connects emotionally and performs effectively across digital platforms.

My Approach to Filmmaking

I believe great filmmaking begins with empathy, and film can be a powerful tool for change. Every story — whether rooted in community, culture, or creativity — deserves to be told with care, respect, and cinematic craft. My work blends documentary storytelling with artistic cinematography, ensuring that each project captures both truth and atmosphere.

I collaborate closely with my clients — from initial concept and storyboarding through filming, editing, and delivery — offering a full-service production process that covers:

  • Cinematic videography (documentary, performance, campaign, and event films)

  • Professional editing and post-production

  • Drone videography and aerial cinematography

  • Social-first video production and content strategy for digital platforms

The result: videos that don’t just document your story, but help you share it with the world — reaching wider audiences and making a lasting impact.

Selected Projects & Collaborations

Across the UK, Lavanda Films delivers professional videography, documentary production, and branded video content that combine cinematic quality with strategic storytelling.

Recent highlights include:

  • Strawsheds — A sustainable building documentary filmed on location in Bristol with Material Cultures, WeCanMake, and RIOT Lab (EPFL). Captured using 4K camera setups, drone cinematography, and on-site sound recording, the film explores eco-architecture, community construction, and biobased design innovation — demonstrating Lavanda Films’ expertise in architectural and environmental filmmaking.

  • Growing Place — A four-part documentary series in collaboration with Material Cultures and the Wolves Lane Centre, documenting a community-led regenerative build. The project involved full production direction, scripting, and social-first video strategy, blending long-form storytelling with short-form content for Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube to amplify reach and engagement.

  • Podmasters — Working with the leading UK podcast network, Lavanda Films provides studio and on-location filming, 4K multi-camera setup podcast production, including A-list celebrity guests and high-profile political commentators. Our work integrates professional lighting, broadcast-quality sound, and post-production editing optimised for both YouTube and social media.

From creative documentaries to corporate video production, Lavanda Films offers professional videography, editing, and content strategy for clients who value authentic storytelling, technical precision, and visual impact.

Social-First Video Production & Digital Storytelling

Alongside filmmaking, Lavanda Films develops social-first video strategies that help clients grow their audiences online.
From Instagram Reels and TikTok edits to YouTube shorts and LinkedIn campaigns, I create short-form content designed for maximum reach, replay value, and engagement.
