New Architecture Writers Event Photography at Van Gogh House, London

Architectural and event photography documenting New Architecture Writers’ Housewarming event at Van Gogh House, London.

Lavanda Films was commissioned to provide professional event photography for New Architecture Writers’ 2026 summer event, Housewarming, hosted at Van Gogh House in Stockwell, South London.

The evening brought together the eighth cohort of New Architecture Writers (N.A.W.) for a series of live conversations exploring the house museum, domestic space and the ways buildings preserve — and shape — stories about the people who inhabit them. Across the rooms of Van Gogh House, the cohort hosted conversations with artist and writer Michael McMillan, filmmaker Soudade Kaadan and curator Sasha Galitzine.

Photography for architecture, culture and creative organisations

This project reflects Lavanda Films’ approach to event and architectural photography for cultural organisations, architecture practices, creative programmes and public events.

Rather than treating event photography as straightforward record-keeping, the aim is to produce a coherent collection of images that communicates the atmosphere and ideas behind an event — giving organisations a versatile library of professional photographs for social media, websites, editorial coverage, press releases and project documentation.

Whether documenting an architecture talk, cultural programme, exhibition opening, panel discussion or community event, Lavanda Films provides photography that captures both the people and the spaces in which ideas take place.

Architectural event photography with a documentary approach

The photographic brief was to capture more than the formal presentations. Working within the intimate setting of Van Gogh House, I documented the speakers, audience, architecture, details and interactions that gave the evening its character.

The photography combines candid documentary moments with considered environmental imagery, creating a visual record that can be used across editorial, press, social media, websites and future communications.

Van Gogh House itself became an important part of the visual story. The Grade II listed Georgian house at 87 Hackford Road is the former London home of Vincent van Gogh and now operates as a contemporary arts space supporting exhibitions, residencies and creative events. Its domestic interiors, material details and layered history provided a distinctive setting for an event concerned with ideas of home, memory and architecture.
